17 Fun Minute to win it games teens love

I’ve listed out the game instructions, including a supply list, as clearly as possible so you know exactly how to set up and play each game.

However, the most important prop you will need is a timer. Of course, you can use the timer on your mobile/cell phone. But having a timer that everyone can see adds an extra layer of pressure and excitement.

1. THE ALPHABET WORD GAME

Props needed: None

How to play:

The Alphabet Word Game is a fun game where two players compete against each other to keep the names flowing in alphabetical order. The first player to hesitate within the minute loses.

You can choose categories for players to compete within. For example:

  • Names in alphabetical order
  • Animals in alphabetical order
  • Celebrities in alphabetical order
  • Countries in alphabetical order

You can also vary the game with the rule that all the words must start with the same letter.

2. STICKY NOTE FACE

Props needed:Sticky notes – ideally in a mix of colours for added impact

How to play:

Sticky Note Face is more of a face-on challenge than a face-off challenge! Players need to be divided into teams of two. The aim of the game is for the teams to compete to place the most sticky notes on a team member’s face, using only one hand, within one minute.

3. TP MUMMY WRAP

Props needed:A bunch of toilet rolls

How to play:

TP Mummy is a really silly Minute To Win It game that is guaranteed to provide both fun and photo opportunities.

Players need to work in teams to TP one of their team members with as much toilet paper as possible within a minute.

Paper Cup Games

There are quite a few Minute To Win It games that involve paper cups. If you’re going to buy a bulk load of cups, you may as well make good use of them. So, here’s a roundup of a few of the best games with cups.

4. STACK ATTACK

Props needed: Enough paper cups for each team to have 36.

Limit the game to two players competing at a time to minimise the number of cups needed.

How to play:

Stack Attack is a game of speed and skill that is a lot harder than it looks. The aim of the game is to stack the cups in a pyramid shape and then unstack them as fast a time as possible and within one minute.

The bottom row of the pyramid must have eight cups, with one less cup for each further level.

To make this game harder, you can challenge players to stack the cups using only one hand.

Here’s a video that shows exactly how the game works.

5. BALLOON STACK ATTACK

Props needed: Enough paper cups for each team to have six cups. Balloons.

How to play:

Balloon Stack Attack may involve fewer cups than Stack Attack, but it is a slightly more challenging game. The aim of the game is to stack a pyramid of six cups using a balloon within a minute.

A player must hold a balloon in their mouth, ready to blow into it, then manoeuver the balloon inside a paper cup. They must then blow up the balloon enough so that they can use the balloon to lift the paper cup and place it as part of the pyramid.

The bottom row of the pyramid must have three cups.

6. YANK THE PAPER

Props needed: Paper cups and sheets of thick paper (A5 or half US Letter size)

How to play:

Yank The Paper is verging on magic trick territory. The aim of the game is to ‘yank the paper’ from between a stack of cups and end up with the cups stacked inside of one another.

To set up the game, place a cup on a table, then place a sheet of paper on top of it. Repeat until you have a tower of four cups, each topped with a sheet of paper. You can go higher if you have ambitious or particularly skilful players.

The first player has one minute to pull out the paper and successfully stack all the cups inside each other.

The player who completes the challenge in the fastest time wins.

Here is a video that shows the game in action:

7. HIGH ROLLER DICE STACK CHALLENGE

Props needed: Six dice and paper cups

How to play:

The High Roller Dice Stack Challenge is a challenging game that involves skill and focus. The aim of the game is to use centrifugal force to stack an increasing number of dice.

A player creates a centrifugal force by swirling dice around in a cup and then tipping them so they land on top of each other.

Watch this video to see how it’s done. In fact, if you’re going to have this game at a party, it’s worth showing this video so everyone knows exactly how it’s done.

8. A BIT DICEY

Props needed: Dice and popsicle sticks

How to play:

The aim of A Bit Dicey is for players to stack six dice in a single stack on a popsicle stick held in their mouth as fast as they can.

The winner is the player who manages to stack all six dice in the fastest time within a minute.

It’s not as easy as it looks!

10. PING-PONG DROP

Props needed: Ping-pong balls, paper cups and sticky tape

How to play:

Ping-Pong Drop is another ping-pong game that isn’t as easy as it may at first seem.

Tape six paper cups to the edge of a dining table (or similar long table) so that they form pool table-like pockets.

Each player takes a turn to stand at the other end of the table and try and roll ping-pong balls into the cups.

The winner is the player who gets the most balls into cups within a minute.

11. JUNK IN THE TRUNK

14. STONE FACE

Props needed: Optional: Squirty cream

How to play:

Stone Face is a face-off challenge where two players compete to keep their face like stone whilst staring at their competitor. Competitors can make any facial movements, with the exception of smiling or laughing, to try and throw their competitors off balance. The loser is the first player to crack a smile.

For added jeopardy, the competitors can each hold a can of squirty cream ready to be sprayed in their competitor’s face if they crack first.

15. BLINDFOLD JELLY SEARCH

Props needed: Jelly cubes to make bowls of jelly with and objects to hide in the jelly.

How to play:

Jelly Face is a slightly revolting game where players are blindfolded and then challenged to find objects hidden in a bowl of jelly using their teeth and tongues.

The player who finds the most or all of the hidden objects within a minute wins.

Clearly, there needs to be a strong element of safety here, so do make sure that players don’t put objects fully in their mouths and have someone responsible on hand to monitor the game. Don’t use any objects that could easily be accidentally swallowed, so avoid smooth spherical objects.

Objects to hide in jelly:

  1. Miniature figurines – people, animals, sea creatures, insects, dinosaurs
  2. Rings
  3. Coins (washed thoroughly!)
  4. Lego pieces
  5. Small rubber ducks
  6. Play fruit

16. CHOCOLATE UNICORN CHALLENGE

Props needed: A supply of chocolate-coated cookies. You can use Oreos, but there is an extra element of melty fun with chocolate-coated cookies!

How to play:

The Chocolate Unicorn Challenge is a game of balance and jeopardy. It can get a little messy, especially when players are under pressure.

The aim of the game is for players to compete against each other and against the clock to balance seven cookies on their forehead, looking like a unicorn horn, and keep them balanced for a further three seconds.

17. COTTON WOOL BALL NOSE DIVE

Props needed:Cotton wool balls, tins of Vaseline (petroleum jelly), bowls.

How to play:

Cotton Wool Ball Nose Dive is another Minute To Win It game that provides great photo opportunities! The aim of the game is for players to compete to move cotton wool balls from one bowl to another using only their noses. This is where the Vaseline comes in.

Set up two bowls per player if you are going to run the game as a race or two bowls, and then let players each take a turn.

Fill one bowl with cotton wool balls. You will also need to provide a tub of Vaseline or a plate of Vaseline near the bowls.

When the timer starts, the player must dip their nose into the Vaseline, then straight into the bowl of cotton balls to try and get a ball to stick to their nose.

They must then transfer that ball to the empty bowl. Their hands must be behind their backs at all times.

The player who transfers the most balls wins.

You can make this game more athletic by placing the bowls at opposite ends of a room so players have to run between them.
