12 Tips For Hosting An Easter Party Everyone (Including You) Will Enjoy
Share
After years of hosting gatherings at our home for family and friends, I've come to the conclusion that the best parties happen when you keep things simple. And Easter celebrations are no different.
Yep, it's less pressure for everyone at the party (I don't know anyone who enjoys enforced fun) and gives YOU the chance to actually enjoy yourself, rather than running around 'hosting'.
But don't be fooled by the word 'simple'.
Simple doesn't have to mean basic. Or dull. Or boring.
It just means having a straight forward plan that you can easily stick to.
Sound appealing?
Well read on, because I've put together a list of my favourite simple hosting tips and ideas to help you on your way to your most enjoyable Easter party ever.
12 Simple tips and ideas to help you plan and host your best celebration EVER!
Here's how to nail your Easter celebration without losing the will in the process.
1. Nail The Date (Before Someone Else Does!)
Sort your date early.
Easter weekend books up fast with family commitments and school holidays. Quick text now, proper invite later. Done.
2. Take The Stress Out Of The Dress Code
Not ever party warrrants a dress code. But if you do want to encourage your guests to dress for the occasion, make it as easy as possible for them.
For example, for last year's Easter gathering we suggested everyone wore at least one item of clothing that was a spring pastel colour. It made for some super pretty party pics.
If you want guests to go a step further, make it literally a single step. Like, everyone is encouraged to wear an 'Easter bonnet'.

3. Create An Easter Aesthetic With Ease
Skip expensive decorations and use a few simple party decor hacks:
- Group supermarket daffodils or tulips in jam jars (or whatever vases and jars you have to hand).
- Scatter some foil-wrapped eggs on surfaces (do be careful not to scatter chocolate eggs anywhere a dog can get them)
- String up a couple of pretty paper garlands. Etsy has some wonderful hand-crafted Easter garlands.
- Lindi over at Love The Day has some wonderful ideas for simpe DIY Easter decorations. Her jellybean tree is genius and her pretty Easter egg garland is adorable.
4. Soundtrack With A Playlist
The point at which I know I can relax ahead of a party is when I know I've got the party playlist sorted.
Why?
Because a well-planned playlist can really make the party vibe come alive.
Plus it stops you from having to rush to put on music at sporadic intervals. There is nothing worse than the metaphorical needle coming off the record mid-party.
So for an Easter/Spring theme think about songs with that are full of hope and joy and new beginnings.
Base the length of your playlist on the duration of the party. Then break it down into sections:
- I tend to plan for an hour of quieter tunes as everyone is arriving and getting settled in
- Then get to the meat of the playlist with more uptempo tunes
- Round off with some more mellow 'end of the party is approaching' music - unless it's a full on dance party, in which case end on a high with some absolute bangers!
Remember to keep the volume at a comfortable level for easy conversation, you can always pump up the volume if and when everyone is dancing.
If you're not huge on musical knowledge, you can find playlists put together by others on music streaming platforms like Spotify. Here's an example of an Easter Playlist.

5. Bite-Size Beats Big Stuff
The easiest way to feed a crowd is with finger food and bite-sized bites. This way there's no need for seating or seating plans.
Of course you could make it even easier on yourself by asking each guest to bring bite sized pot luck offerings.
Everyone can grab what they would like to eat and then find somewhere to perch or stay standing to eat. Here are some crowd pleasers that always work:
- Mini egg nests (classic for a reason)
- Hot cross bun bites
- Carrot sticks and dips
- Deviled eggs (shop-bought is fine!)
- Easter-shaped sandwiches
- Chocolate-dipped strawberries
I've put together some roundups of Easter appetizers and Easter treats over on my lifestyle website, pop over and take a look:
Top tip: How about labelling each dish or platter with an Easter themed name card for a little touch of seasonal fun?
6. Create a Show-Stopping Centrepiece
Bite-sized food aside, I do like to create one standout dish as a centrepiece for the food table.
There's no rules on whether it's sweet or savoury. But for Easter it tends to be sweet.
I tend to do a massive Easter chocolate cake. But another idea I love is to create a big display of chocolate Easter Eggs or mini eggs that guests can help themselves to.
7. Raise A Glass To The Easter Bunny
I love the challenge of coming up with a themed drink for my parties. They don't have to be fancy, just something fun that brings a smile.
Here are some ideas for Easter themed drinks:
1. Springtime Bunny Bellini
A fruity twist on the classic Bellini! Blend peach purée with a splash of orange juice and top with chilled prosecco. Garnish with an edible flower or a sugar rim for a festive touch.
2. Chocolate Bunny Martini
A dessert cocktail perfect for Easter! Shake together vodka, Baileys, and chocolate liqueur with ice. Strain into a martini glass drizzled with chocolate syrup and garnish with mini chocolate eggs or a small chocolate bunny on the rim.
3. Easter Bunny Milkshake
A creamy, chocolatey Easter treat that’s as fun to look at as it is to drink!
- Blend together 2 cups milk, 3 scoops chocolate ice cream, 2 tbsp chocolate syrup, and ½ tsp vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour into a glass and top with whipped cream, mini chocolate eggs, and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
- Garnish with a paper straw and a tiny bunny-shaped marshmallow for extra Easter vibes!

10. Kids Corners Rule
If your guest list includes kids, set up a dedicated area with age-appropriate activities.
My little hack is to ask the older kids I can rely on to do a stint looking after or hanging out with the younger kids.
Stock the kids' corner with Easter colouring sheets, a simple holiday-themed craft (check my list of lovely Easter themed craft ideas over on my lifestyle site), and a screening of an Easter-themed movie:

- Peter Rabbit
- Hop
